In an attempt to better help music teachers and music students chart their musical journey, I have created the Music Motivation® Methodology™ (for piano). This methodology is what I personally use with my own music students (principally piano students). There are 3 levels or stages: (1) Apprentice, (2) Maestro, and (3) Virtuoso. The first stage is the apprentice stage. This is meant for 1st and 2nd year students. The second stage is the maestro stage. This is meant for 2nd - 4th year students. The third stage is the Virtuoso stage. This is meant for 3rd year students and above. Each of these areas overlap a little. Some students may progress more quickly than other students. Others may need more time in each of these stages.
Down the left side I indicated the different primary areas of musicianship on which the teacher and student may focus their weekly lessons. This is only an outline or suggestion - add to it or subtract from it! If you are doing something different all together that works, keep doing it. This is meant to give you ideas and supplement what you're already doing (not to take away from anything you are doing or have done that is effective - if it works don't change what your doing). I have found that what works for one student may not necessarily work for another. Every student is unique and should be treated as an individual. To print off your copy (for FREE) please click on the image of the Music Motivation® Methodology™ below.
This methodology is the focus of the Music Motivation® Goal Book (a weekly lesson assignment book) written by Jerald M. Simon ($9.95). Click on the cover below to learn more about the Music Motivation® Goal Book.
