“Hymns of Exaltation”, contains 8 instrumental piano arrangements of well known and loved hymns.  Each of the songs is presented in lesson format to help teach the theory used in the arranging of each hymn.

The book is broken down into 8 individual lessons – one for each of the hymns arranged in the book: (1) “For the Beauty of the Earth”, (2) “Be Still My Soul”, (3) “Nearer My God to Thee”, (4) “I Stand All Amazed”, (5) “Abide with Me”, (6) “I Need Thee Every Hour/Lead Kindly Light”, (7) “More Holiness Give Me”, and (8) “If You Could Hie to Kolob” (also known as “I Heard the Voice of Jesus” and “O Sing a Song of Bethlehem”).

It is the hope of the author Jerald M. Simon and the publisher Music Motivation®, that each of these hymn arrangements will uplift, inspire, comfort, and empower the performers and the listeners.  Hymns are magnificent because they help us focus on that which is of most worth to us.  As we listen to the melodies we think of the inspired words of each hymn.  They help us do our best each day and strive to do our part to help those around us.

The order of the songs in the book has a deliberate order.  As we look at the beauty of this earth, our souls are stilled.  We have imperfections, but we strive to be nearer to God.  By doing so, we stand amazed and ask God to abide with us.  We need Him and His light in our lives because He gives us more holiness.  We hear His voice and comt to Him because He loves us and we are His.
